About BME Therapy Associates

The Only Practice Built Around
the F.E.R.N.S. Method.

A boutique couples coaching and therapy practice built on a single belief — that beneath every conflict are unmet needs, and that identifying those needs changes everything.

A Practice Built With Intention. Not by Accident.

BME Therapy Associates was never meant to be a large practice. It was built to be a precise one — small enough to give every couple our full attention, and focused enough to do one thing exceptionally well: help couples identify the unmet needs that are running their relationship from the background.

We are Brian and Emily Jones — a husband and wife team whose personal and professional lives are woven together by the same belief that anchors everything we do. Relationships are not problems to be managed. They are living systems that require understanding, structure, and the courage to go beneath the surface.

"Most couples come in arguing about problems. The real work begins when we identify the needs beneath them."

Brian brings 15 years of clinical expertise and the F.E.R.N.S. Method — the proprietary framework he developed through years of working with couples at every stage and in every kind of crisis. Emily brings warmth, structure, a coaching certification, and a life rich with the kind of cross-cultural perspective that makes her genuinely curious about every couple she meets.

Together, we offer something rare — a practice that is both clinically rigorous and deeply human. Where you will be challenged and cared for in equal measure.

The Beliefs That Drive Our Work

01

Internal Before External

The conflict you are experiencing externally is almost always a reflection of something happening internally. We start inside before we address what is happening between you. Every time.

03

The Problem Is Not the Person

One of the most important reframes in couples work is learning to see the problem as the problem — not your partner. When you stop making each other the enemy, real work becomes possible.

04

Grace Requires Strength

Grace — the ability to hold uncertainty about your partner from a position of strength rather than fear — is one of the most powerful relational tools there is. We will help you build it.

06

Boutique by Design

We are small on purpose. A focused practice means every couple gets our full attention — not a case number, not a waiting list, not a junior associate. You get us. That is the whole point.

F
Feelings & FearsThe emotional surface — what we feel and what we're afraid of underneath.
E
ExpectationsThe hidden rules we carry — inherited, unspoken, and quietly breeding resentment.
R
ReactivityThe automatic responses that take over before we can think clearly.
N
NeedsThe destination. Every other component is a barrier pointing here.
S
SensitivitiesThe tender places — past wounds that shape how we interpret the present.

The F.E.R.N.S. Method — Our North Star

Everything we do at BME Therapy Associates is built around a single proprietary framework developed by Brian T. Jones over 15 years of clinical work with couples. The F.E.R.N.S. Method is not a communication technique. It is not a set of scripts. It is a structured clinical framework for identifying the unmet needs that are driving your relationship from the background.

"F.E.R.N.S. gives couples a shared language for the things they have never been able to say — and a structured path to the needs that have always been there."

Each component — Feelings, Expectations, Reactivity, and Sensitivities — functions as a barrier to need-identification. Needs is always the destination. When couples find their way there, everything changes.
